Seven Heavenly Cocktails at Home

With the recent Corona-crisis, we have all had to become adventurous in our respective kitchens. Some of us are recreating restaurant meals, recipes by celebrity chefs or home-baking! For the rest of us who miss the boozy concoctions of our favourite cocktail bars, the following recipes should guide you to create your own cocktails at home!

You will need a cocktail kit. You can buy the full set on Amazon or assemble your own individually. You will need a cocktail jigger for measuring, a stirrer, a mixing glass and a Hawthorne strainer.

Negroni 

1 measure of Campari 

1 measure of sweet vermouth (using Martini Rosso here) 

1 measure of gin (using Tanqueray Export here) 

Assemble in a mixing glass with ice, stir for 15 seconds. Strain into a pre-chilled Old Fashioned glass or Nick and Nora. Garnish with a twist of orange zest. 

Boulevardier

1 measure of Campari 

1 measure of sweet vermouth (using Martini Rosso here) 

1 measure of bourbon (using Buffalo Trace here) 

Assemble in a mixing glass with ice, stir for 15 seconds. Strain into a pre-chilled Old Fashioned glass, coupe or Nick and Nora. Garnish with a twist of orange zest. 

Perfect Manhattan

2 measures of bourbon 

1/2 measure of sweet vermouth 

1/2 measure of dry vermouth 

A few dashes of Angostura bitters 

Assemble in a mixing glass with ice, stir for 15 seconds. Strain into a pre-chilled coupe. Garnish with a twist of orange zest or a cocktail cherry. 

Dry Martini

4 measures of gin (using Tanqueray Export here) 

1/2 measure of dry vermouth (using Martini Extra Dry here) 

Assemble in a mixing glass with ice, stir for 15 seconds. Strain into a pre-chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon zest. 

Margarita

2 measures of tequila (using Olmeca Altos Tequila here) 

1 measure of Triple Sec (using De Kuyper Triple Sec here) 

1 measure of freshly squeezed lime juice  

A pinch of salt 

Assemble in a cocktail shaker with ice, then shake for 15 seconds.  Strain into a pre-chilled Margarita glass or coupe. Garnish with a twist of lime zest or a wheel of lime. 

Daiquiri 

2 measures of light rum (using Flor de Caña Extra Seco here) 

3/4 measure simple syrup (using Monin sugar syrup) 

1 measure of freshly squeezed lime juice  

Assemble in a cocktail shaker with ice, then shake for 15 seconds.  Strain into a pre-chilled coupe. Garnish with a twist of lime zest or a wheel of lime

Sazerac 

2 measures of rye whiskey (using Bulleit Rye Whiskey here) 

1/4 measure simple syrup (using Monin sugar syrup here) 

3 dashes Peychaud bitters 

1 barspoon of absinthe 

Assemble ingredients except for the absinthe in a mixing glass with ice, stir for 15 seconds. Coat the glass with the absinthe then discard any remainder. Strain into the glass and add ice.  Garnish with a twist of lemon zest.
