Alongside all the cooking and ready meals during lockdown, we were seriously obsessed with snacking (anyone else felt that way?), especially when working from home. The following tasty treats from small brands and independent businesses kept us going when we needed that little extra pick-me-up!
We enjoyed some seriously hot weather over the lockdown period (typical). So it would have been criminal not to have a picnic in the back garden to celebrate the glorious summer days. Olive and Pickle are a luxury grazing company run by two mums, Lauren and Holly. They offer a variety of goodies, including grazing boxes and platters. Their boxes can be customised to be vegan, gluten free, sweet or savoury. My cute box of tasty treats arrived at my home absolutely contact-free. It was packed to the brim with an assortment of cheeses, crackers, pickles, chutneys, honey olives, tomatoes, cucumbers, cured meats, fresh fruits, dried fruits and nuts. It made for a really pretty addition to our picnic table and the perfect summer set-up!
The Curators are a small team of flavour fanatics brought together by food loving friends Max and Ed. They specialise in British-made snacks, inspired by global cuisines. They kindly send me a range of their tasty goodies to try, that included British Silverside Biltong and Beef Jerky, light and crunchy Pork Puffs (Original, Salt and Vinegar, Sweet Chilli BBQ) and their almond range which come in three enticing flavours: Smoky BBQ, Sea Salt and Black Pepper and Espresso Caramel. I am a big fan of Biltong and Jerky so those were inhaled in seconds. I also found the almonds very moreish. Whether you are looking to munch on some addictive snacks or to complement your cocktails, these are your perfect goto!
Noisy (love the name!) were the perfect tasty treats for our mid afternoon cravings and for after work munchies with an ice cold beer or cocktail. The full range includes an assortment of spicy and tasty flavours. They also have gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options available. All come neatly packaged in colourful 100% recyclable pouch packs. These snack buddies are high in protein so you can snack away guilt-free!

Compared to jams, they have 93% less sugar and 70% less calories. The spreads were great for breakfast times, slathered on toast or dollopped over porridge and pancakes. Flavours included: Acai, Summer Berry & Chia, Raspberry, Cardamom & Chia and Strawberry, Balsamic and Chia. They also did these amazing cake bars that looked decadent but actually had up to 77% less sugar, no artificial sweeteners and were free from ingredients containing gluten. They made for some amazing low sugar tasty treats in the afternoon or as a post-dinner treat. Cake Flavours include Black Forest Brownie, Chia Coconut and Sour Cherry Tiffin.

Radio Lamington are a new online luxury Aussie lamington delivery service from the team behind Daisy Green Collection. They have been baking for the NHS for the last two months and are now baking and delivering these gourmet lamingtons to your doorstep. Lamingtons are two pieces of flavoured sponge cake with cream in the centre, coated with chocolate🍫 and then rolled with desiccated coconut. These sweet, heavenly delights come attractively packaged in a special box, ready to be unraveled and its sugary contents devoured. We sampled six of their delicious flavours – Classic, Salted Caramel, Red Velvet, Tiramisu, Lemon, Lime, Yuzu, and Raibow. Each flavour was more exquisite than the last but the winner for us was the The Classic and the Rainbow. They use quality ingredients such as Mork Chocolate and The Roasting Party . Boxes come in six and twelve pack boxes. and for each Lamington box ordered through Radio Lamington , the team will send a box to an NHS hospital as well. Great opportunity to indulge in these sinful delicacies guilt-free and do a good deed at the same time.
Watch out for my next post where I talk about boozy deliveries to your doorstep…
