Cornwall in the UK is a beautiful and popular destination for British holidaymakers, especially during Summer. To avoid tourist traps and overpriced hotels, I have listed ten places that you can safely look into booking. We have either stayed in one of them or they regularly feature in the recommended places-to-stay lists. I have done the research so you don’t have to!
PENZANCE
If your journey starts at Penzance, look no further than the Artist Residence Penzance. Set in a former Georgian inn, it has all the quirky, cozy and eclectic charms associated with this brand of boutique hotels. The statement roll top bath in our Comfy Luxe Room and wonderfully smelling Bramley products ensured we had a relaxing and calming stay. Their in-house restaurant has lots of fish and seafood dishes on the menu, perfectly complemented by their expertly made house cocktails and wines. @artistresidencepenzance

MOUSEHOLE
When visiting Penzance, a lot of visitors book a day trip to Mousehole – a tiny, very picturesque and quaint fishing village famous for retaining its original character, charm and beauty. We decided to stay here for a few days to fully appreciate this place. Our choice of accommodation was The Ship Inn – a historic pub with recently renovated rooms and views out to the harbour. I do have a soft spot for pubs with rooms, and The Ship Inn definitely ticked all my boxes. @shipinnmousehole
Other places you may consider:
The Old Coastguard (@theoldcoastguard) – for waking up to views like this and enjoy a bevvy or many in their massive beer garden.
ST. IVES
The last leg of our trip to West Cornwall brought us to St. Ives. This is where you will find the picture-perfect scenes of the sandy beaches and aqua colours of the sea that graze the covers of many Cornish travel magazines. We stayed at the Trevose Harbour House, a tastefully designed boutique guest house with sustainability at its core. Not only were the interiors gorgeous, but we received the most personalised service from owners Angela and Olivier. I would highly recommend a stay here. @trevoseharbourhouse
Those who know me know that I am a serial planner and organiser; spontaneity doesn’t come easily to me. Which is why I surprised myself that I decided to stay an extra day in St. Ives, completely off-the-cuff.
St. Ives is a heavenly place (if you can avoid the touristy areas). We got lucky with a last minute room booking at Primrose House, another stylish guesthouse set inside a former Edwardian building. The rooms are spacious and decorated in a neutral palette which I found quite calming. It is also conveniently located minutes from Porthminster beach and the train station, which is why it is a no brainer that we have rebooked this place for a slightly longer stay for Summer 2022. We literally can’t wait to return to St. Ives! @primroseatives
