Hotel Review: Delta Hotels, Toronto

During our visit to Toronto in 2021, we opted to stay at Delta Hotels by Marriott and it was the best decision we made during the trip. Here’s why!

Location Location Location!

Delta Hotel Toronto is situated in the prominent downtown area. It is very close to some of the key visitor attractions and major transport hubs within the city of Toronto, most of them within a five minute walk: CN Tower, Union Station, Canada Rogers Centre as well as the Harbourfront. Its convenient location makes it an excellent base to explore the vibrant city of Toronto for the first time or as a returning traveller.

The Hotel

The first impression you get upon entering the hotel that it is beautifully designed. As a new-ish hotel, all the spaces were clean and sparkling. The look of the interiors is very contemporary, with a high ceilinged atrium and full height glazing on both sides to capture the CN Tower, which is right outside, in its full glory.

Service

Throughout our stay, the service was truly exceptional from check-in to check-out. No request was too much and in general the staff were very welcoming, friendly and turned around any requests fairly quickly. Bear in mind, this was also very close to when Canada was easing Covid restrictions, so the staff had extra responsibilities on their hands and they did a fairly good job of managing guest expectations whilst ensuring we had a pleasant stay.

Food and Drink

The hotel has an in-house restaurant, SOCO Kitchen + Bar, with a deli section for takeaway called SOCO To Go. Whilst we didn’t eat at the hotel as Toronto’s restaurant scene is pretty epic (more on that later), we did pay a visit to the hotel’s own whisky lounge, the Char No.5 Cocktail & Whisky Lounge for pre-dinner drinks and nightcaps. True to their name, they have an extensive collection of whiskies from around the world, and it is well worth a visit when in Toronto, even if you are not a guest of the hotel.

The Room

My second favourite aspect of the hotel was our room. It was a spacious, well-appointed room with massive twin beds that each could be a double bed on their own. All the amenities that you would expect from a 4 star hotel were provided for. If you love having a generous space, these rooms will tick your boxes for sure!

Views

My favourite part of the stay at Delta were the views. From our window we could see the beautiful and buzzing city of Toronto, the waterfront, Toronto Island Park and Toronto Island Airport beyond.

Marriott Bonvoy Rewards Program

A smart traveller understands how important reward points are. The Marriott Bonvoy rewards program is widely regarded to be one of the best hotel loyalty programs out there and you can earn points and redeem them at the many hotels under the Marriott brand. So by choosing Delta, we have earned some rewards points for our next travel… definitely an incentive to stay there again!
