If you’re considering a trip to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, I would strongly recommend the following restaurants for your stay. Most were within easy walking distance from our hotel, Bull Reina Isabel. You can read the hotel review here.
Taberna Chica, Playa De Las Canteras
Not knowing when we would actually reach our hotel from the airport, we didn’t book any restaurant for our first evening. During a casual stroll, we stumbled upon Taberna Chica on the Las Canteras promenade. At first glance, it felt a bit touristy, especially because of the prime location and the beckoning waiters but we were exhausted from travel and didn’t want to venture any further away from the hotel. We were seated at a beautiful table overlooking Las Canteras beach, quickly feasting on padron peppers and seafood paella. The paella was especially delicious. It was one of their signature dishes, served with a bit of fanfare at your table. After an early start and a long flight, the meal and the setting really hit the spot. Service was lovely too! @tabernachica_lascanteras.
La Tasca de Mawa
One of the most highly rated restaurants in Gran Canaria, La Tasca de Mawa is located on a quiet residential street, away from the main touristy hub. It very much looks the part of a hidden gem that the locals do not want to tell you about. The interiors are modest, but the food is good. We tucked into pork and apple croquettes, BBQ Pork Rib and Mawa Style Octopus. They also brew their own beer which perfectly complemented the food. @latascademawa
Ekléctico
Eklectico, as the name suggests, is a gastronomic experience inspired by global cuisine. We went for their Tasting Menu to get a feel for the range of the cooking:
- Cerne and Saharan Prawn Croquette with May plankton
- Creamy Watercress Soup with Cod Cube
- Ravioli of Oxtail and foie, with wild wine sauce, celeriac puree and shiitake mushroom
- Mediterranean White Prawn
- Eklectico Burger
- Banana Bienmesabe Gofio Crumble
Eklectico was a foodie highlight of our trip. This is more a place for a discerning diner with a refined palate looking for an elevated culinary experience . @eklectico_gastro
Rincón de Triana
Our last meal of the trip was at Rincón de Triana. Jamon is a highlight here so it’s no surprise that we started with some Croquettes with Jamon. From the mains, I’d recommend the Grilled Octopus leg, although Kris’ Rib ‘NAKAMA’ of Canarian Pork was lovely too! Staff were friendly and had some good wine recommendations as well. @Rincondetrianalp
